A recent (09/28/2023) update to MSFS 2020 was huge and provided significant functionality to the B748 and B787 FMC. This includes the capability to enter your SimBrief flight plan into the FMC easily.

Key Terms – LSK means Line Select Key that are located on the left and right side of the FMC screen. So LSKL1 would be the top button on the left side of the FMC, and LSKR3 would be the 3rd button down on the right side.

First, you must create your SimBrief flight plan as you would normally do, and then clicking on ‘Generate Flight’. Once this is done you can go into your B748 FMC and do the following:

1.    Click the MENU button, then SETTINGS (LSKR6) then click on NEXT PAGE, this will take you to page and it will say “SIMBRIEF SETTINGS.”

2.    Type your SimBrief User Name then click on LSKR1 to enter it. You should then see your user ID on the left side and your status as “ACTIVE”

3.    Next click on RTE. In the ACT RTE window click ROUTE REQUEST (LSKL3). You will briefly see REQUESTING then REQUEST SENT.

4.    Then you will see next to LOAD (LSKL6) the words RTE 1 UPLINK READY. When you click this, it will load the SimBrief flight plan into the FMC. Another message will appear telling you the status of the flight plan loading. That’s it.

You then continue to program your FMC for the flight.
